The Rack Torture, some say, was the most painful of all tortures. It was a wooden frame, usually above the ground with a roller at either one or both of the ends. At the base of the frame there was a fixed wooden bar where the victims legs were tied on to, their feet were fastened to the roller at the bottom and the wrists were chained to a movable bar at the top of the device.
Then the torturer would turn the handle, turning the rollers and elongating the body. this device dislocated many of the limbs and sometimes even tore them off.
