Burning at the stake was a very common way to execute blasphemers, thieves, and witches. They would burn the victims under smaller fire so they can suffer until the end. When the fire was small death occurred because of lose of blood or heatstroke which often to hours. if the person was hated the town would come and watch. After the victim got burnt the smell will last for hours or even days. |
